Raise your hand if you've been hunting to Africa? Unfortunately I
can't raise my hand. I haven't been able to set aside the time to make
it to the Dark Continent. Rest assured it's on my to do list before I
pass on to the next hunting adventure. However I have many friends who
have been or are going to Africa so I can say that I've heard a lot of
details about hunting Africa.
Plus all of the countless hunting shows that I've watched over the
years. Here are some reasons that if financially feasible and time
permitting why we should all go hunt Africa. At least once in our lives.
1. Cape Buffalo: AKA - Black Death. Whenever a hunter thinks about going
hunting in Africa one of the first big game animals that pops into his
head is the Cape Buffalo. These animals are huge, awesome, dangerous and
a thrill to hunt. They didn't get the name 'black death' for nothing.
If you've ever watched one of these animals on TV then you'll understand
what I mean. These animals can weigh up to 2,200 lbs. Can you imagine
an animal like that charging you head on?
2. Elephant: Hunting elephants has been famous for hundreds of years.
They are the biggest land mammal and are very dangerous, especially when
being hunted. Males can weigh up to 5500 kg which is around 10,000
pounds. The largest ever recorded was 24,000 pounds. It was a male that
was shot in Angola in 1955. I've never watched an elephant hunt where
the elephant hasn't charged or was acting like he was going to charge.
Elephant have become very destructive to the local tribes and people in
South Africa because of their over growing numbers. They need to eat 500
pounds of food per day. That might have something to do with it.
3. Leopard: These cats are also known to be very dangerous especially
when they're wounded. When hunting these cats it's critical to put them
down with the first shot or reap the consequences. They can reach a
weight of 200 pounds and are very agile. They can also be extremely hard
to hunt and many hunters who go to Africa to hunt leopards will
sometimes come home empty handed. Before you go hunt these cats make
sure that you've been practicing shooting.
4. Nile Crocodile: As my personal preference, crocodiles are on my list
of animals that I want to hunt most in Africa. I've always been
fascinated with crocodiles. They're ruthless killers who show no mercy
at all. Not only that they'd make a great looking mount in my trophy
room. Also they make great boots and jackets.
5. Lion: Last but not least. The majestic king of the jungle. If you've
ever watched the movie 'The Ghost and the Darkness', you can get an idea
of just how dangerous these animals can be. They weigh an average of
about 550 pounds. Now that's a huge cat. Every hunter would love to have
a full bodied lion mount in his trophy room or now as they're called
'man cave.'
Theses are some of the most sought after dangerous game animals in the
world. Hunting Africa has become mainstream. You can bet that these
animals are on my list of big game animals to hunt before I pass onto
the next big hunting adventure in the sky.
